CAJUN YARD DOGThe Cajun Yard Dog is a rebrand for a locally beloved Charlotte restaurant serving authentic Cajun and Southern comfort food with a large focus on home-cooked flavors, warm hospitality, and an inviting atmosphere since the early 2000s. Unlike competitors that focus on seafood or nightlife entertainment, Cajun Yard Dog offers a cozy, personal, and flavorful dining experience that makes guests feel right at home.

This version of the Cajun Yard Dog is an identity that would be implemented into the original location found in Charlotte, NC, which had otherwise no consistent structure. Through this, a cohesive system consisting of a logo, typographic family, and a harmonious color palette was created to develop an identity that helped to reflect the home style Southern-Cajun cooking and “Come sit, eat, and stay awhile,” energy radiating throughout the eatery. This was a system realized through numberous mock-ups that made sense for the exisiting identity.













The imagery used throughout the identity was inspired by the casual, lived-in charm of Southern-Cajun culture, expanding upon the textures, warmth, and familiarity of a neighborhood spot where stories are shared over hearty meals. Hand-drawn accents and organic forms emphasize the approachable and unpretentious nature of the restaurant, while subtle visual nods to backyard celebrations and home cooking help reinforce the brand’s “Come sit, eat, and stay awhile” atmosphere; something the locals have always loved about the space.
